Alice in Wonderland 2010 Toys

Fortunately the folks at Disney are prepared and have been making licensing deals for the coming movie, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. This movie is coming in March of 2010 and I'm expecting it to be really amazing. It stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. In another hub about Coraline Dolls, I complain quite a bit about the lack of cool merchandise for that movie. For this movie, there are already a lot of cool toys either here or coming. Here are some of them.

These are plushes and so they don't look a whole lot like the characters in the movie, but when you look at the colors, especially of the hair of the Mad Hatter or the blue stripes of the Cheshire Cat, it's obvious that they are from the Tim Burton movie. Incidentally, the White Rabbit is played by Michael Sheen, and the Cheshire Cat is played by Stephen Fry. Click the links below to see the various plushes.

It's really hard to say very much without having seen the movie, but I think that Helena Bonham Carter's character will have enough appeal that there should be at least a doll for her. I also think that the soldiers for both sides, the card soldiers and the white soldiers are cool enough that they should make action figures out of them. Of course, this probably all depends on it being a blockbuster movie. Unfortunately, nobody can really tell how popular the movie is going to end up being. While we're talking about the movie, I should mention that there is this great site which has all kinds of information about the movie and is updated pretty regularly. It's Alice 2010, and will no doubt have information about Alice in Wonderland figures and toys.

Here are some other figures that are of characters from the movie. We have the Mad Hatter, Alice, and another more detailed Mad Hatter. As you can see, the manufacturers are banking on the popularity of Johnny Depp and figuring that figures of his character are going to sell better than ones of Alice, otherwise there would be a more detailed Alice doll like the Mad Hatter figure on the right. That's a very detailed figure. It's also kind of expensive!

I guess that's kind of all I have to say. I'm really excited about the movie and will be seeing it on the opening night. Maybe I'll put up a review here when I do. I'll also put up more Alice in wonderland toys as they come out.
